Sibelius Scorch is a free, easy to use plug-in that allows you to view, play, customize and print sheet music using your favorite browser. With Scorch’s interactive features you can transpose Yamaha MusicSoft Printable Sheet Music scores then print them directly from your computer. Without this free plug-in you will be unable to view or print sheet music from Yamaha MusicSoft.

Purchasing and Customizing Sheet Music

Preview Interactive Score

Now that you’ve installed the Scorch plug-in you can preview, purchase, customize and print sheet music directly from your laptop or home computer. Before making a purchase you can preview and print the first page of each song on the product details page.

Click the Preview Interactive Score button to open a preview window featuring the interactive Scorch toolbar. Using the toolbar you can listen to a MIDI rendition of the first page of the score. Use the play, pause, stop and tempo controls to manage playback.

Change the lead instrument with the Substitute Instrument button.
Change the key of this piece with the Transpose button.
Use the Print button to test your printer.

Where applicable you can transpose the score or change the lead instrument using the Transpose and Substitute Instrument buttons on the right of the toolbar. (Note: Changes you make to the score will not be saved once you leave the preview window, you will need to re-customize your score after you purchase the song.)

Finally, this is a perfect opportunity to test your printer by printing a sample copy of this first-page preview. Just click the Print button on the Scorch toolbar to open your computer’s print screen and print a test page.

Once you are ready to purchase a song click the Add to Cart button and follow the instructions that appear. If you are a first time customer you will need to create a Yamaha MusicSoft account to purchase sheet music and other products on our site.

After you complete the checkout process you can immediately print your sheet music from the Order Complete page. You can also access all of your Printable Sheet Music products at any time on the Print Sheet Music page. Simply click on My Account at the top of any Yamaha MusicSoft page and select Print Sheet Music from the My Account menu.


Print

Before printing your sheet music purchase, we suggest testing your printer using this free sample test page. Simply click the Print icon on the Scorch toolbar, select your desired printer from the drop-down menu, and click OK. If you have issues printing this test page, view our Printing Problems guide for help with common printing problems.

Clicking Print on the Order Complete or Print Sheet Music pages will open the interactive Scorch window. Using the interactive Scorch toolbar you can customize your sheet music and listen to a MIDI rendition of the whole song. (Note: Any changes you make to the score will not be saved if you navigate away from the interactive Scorch window.)

Once you’ve made the desired changes, just click the Print icon on the Scorch toolbar to open the Scorch print dialog. Select the printer you wish to use from the drop-down menu and click OK.

After your printer has finished you will see a dialog box that asks if your sheet music printed correctly. If you are having issues with printing, you can select the No option and consult our Printing Problems guide for help with common printing issues.


Printing Problems

When trying to resolve printing problems, we recommend using this free sample test page to determine if issues have been resolved.

The webpage printed instead of the sheet music

To print Yamaha MusicSoft sheet music products, always click the Print icon on the Scorch interactive toolbar. Clicking print buttons in your browser and file menu or using the Ctrl+P shortcut on your keyboard will print the webpage instead of the sheet music score.

No paper came out of the printer

Check that your printer is switched on, contains paper and is plugged into your computer. If all these conditions are met, please consult your computer and printer manuals or see if your issue is listed below.

The printer ran out of paper

Most printers will automatically continue printing if you place more paper in the feed tray.

The music doesn't fit on the paper or is cropped

Reopen the interactive Scorch window, click the Print icon on the Scorch toolbar, select the Fit to Paper option found in the Print dialog box, then click OK. (For Mac computers this option can be found in the Sibelius area of the dialog box.)

The staff lines and note stems are missing, uneven or have rounded ends

Reopen the interactive Scorch window, click the Print icon on the Scorch toolbar, select the Lines option in the Substitute section of the print dialog box and click OK. (For Mac computers this option can be found in the Sibelius area of the dialog box.)

The arpeggios or glissandos are misaligned

Reopen the interactive Scorch window, click the Print icon on the Scorch toolbar, select the Arpeggios, gliss. etc. option in the Substitute section of the print dialog box and click OK. (For Mac computers this option can be found in the Sibelius area of the dialog box.)

The keyboard braces are missing or the wrong size

Reopen the interactive Scorch window, click the Print icon on the Scorch toolbar, select the Braces option if it is available in the Substitute section of the print dialog box and click OK. (For Mac computers this option can be found in the Sibelius area of the dialog box.)

The notes print as text characters or I am experiencing other font problems

Try changing your printer's font settings. For Windows computers reopen the interactive Scorch window, click the Print icon on the Scorch toolbar and select Properties in the print dialog box. Look for the font tab in the Properties dialog then try changing options which affect font printing, such as Print Fonts as Graphics or Print TrueType as Graphics.

Error message: "The score is corrupt or missing."

This error message appears when you are using a very old version of Scorch to view a file saved from a newer version of Sibelius or Sibelius Internet Edition. Try upgrading to a newer version of Scorch.

Playback doesn't work or sounds strange

Your computer may have several different sound devices (e.g. soundcard, software synthesizer, MIDI output). Some of these may be silent or have inferior sounds. Reopen the interactive Scorch window, click the Scorch Sound button (which looks like a pair of eighth notes) and choose a different sound device.

Problems reinstalling Scorch (Windows only):

In certain circumstances, Scorch does not reinstall correctly if you try to install it after using the Add/Remove Programs option in the Control Panel to uninstall an older version.

If Scorch is the only plug-in installed for your browser, the uninstaller may also remove the Plugins folder during the uninstallation process. When you attempt to reinstall Scorch the installer cannot find the required folder to install the plug-in.

To correctly install Scorch, re-create the Plugins folder in the correct location (e.g. for Internet Explorer, C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Plugins) then run the Scorch installer again.
